It’s back! Kander and Ebb’s classic 1975 Broadway musical has returned to London earlier this year with limited shows available. To get their holiday off to a great start, we decided to razzle-dazzle Elaine’s parents with a West End show at the Phoenix, watching the all-jazz musical, Chicago.

Sitting in the first row of the dress circle, we probably had the best view in the house to see the famous American actor, Cuba Gooding Jr, make his West End debut as Billy Flynn. Some have criticised Gooding for not having a strong enough voice for the role, but we feel his strong personality and wit made up for it.  The 2-hour show is truly spectacular if you take into account that there are almost no costume or decor changes whilst sharing the entire stage with a 14-piece band.

The men all have six packs, the girls are hot with sexy outfits, the music is lively to which trumpets and trombones play with a particular flourish – I mean, what’s not to like? The old razzle-dazzle is back in town and we loved it.
