Today we started our day in Svendborg. Heard of it? Don’t feel too bad because before this trip, neither have we!

Svendborg is a very small town on the island of Funen in south-central Denmark. This entire town can fit in to the Ellis Park rugby stadium, twice. With a population of just over 26 000 people, this quiet little place is a jewel in Europe.

So what’s so cool about Svendborg? Well, for starters, the largest container ship company in the world, Maersk, has its origins in Svendborg. That’s right, the multi billion dollar shipping giant  started right here, in this humble little Danish town. But to be honest, we love it for its beauty.

Our morning started slow with a coffee out on the deck. We enjoyed the view and watched the Ferry cruise by every now and then. The general idea of the Svendborg stop was actually just to hang out with the Krugers, catch up and gill out – that’s exactly what we did!

Here is another system that you won’t find in Africa.
In Svendborg, we found this little box in front of a house that is selling these plants. But there is no one in sight, so you simply take the ones you want and put the money in the jar.
Again, another example of the honesty system.

Svendborg

Svendborg is a must see if you are in Denmark, we hope to return to this magic little place in future!
